About Peter Kronen

Peter Studied biological Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich (TU), Germany. He did his Vet School at University of Pisa, Italy and Munich (LMU), Germany, graduating from Laude. He worked then in a busy small animal referral centre in Lido di Camaiore, Italy and completed his Italian thesis at the same time. From there he went to the cardiovascular research division at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA, USA, then completed his residency at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where he continued at a junior faculty member at first. He then became a lecturer at the University of California in Davis, CA, USA. Afterwards, he moved to Switzerland to join the Anaesthesia Section at the University of Berne. During this time, he became a Diplomate of the ECVAA and completed his Swiss thesis (Dr med vet).

In 2006, he founded the first internationally operating Anaesthesia Service company, providing Anaesthesia expertise from the beginning in an international setup. Veterinary Anaesthesia Services-International today operates in a growing number of countries to provide specialist services in anaesthesia and analgesia. In 2008, he founded VASTA, today also internationally operating anaesthesia education for technicians, nurses and practitioners.

Peter has been very active in professional organisations and held leading positions in the AVA, IVAPM, WSAVA, but he is also active in Animal Research and Research Animal Protection (ethical committees etc).

Today, he is CEO of Veterinary Anaesthesia Services International, Director of VASTA, Head of Experimental Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the Center for Applied Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine, and the Musculo-Skeletal Research Unit of the University of Zurich and Member of the Global Pain Council.
